    long against the English.
All the land around Bandon belonged to the O'Mahonys, but in the year 1589 an Englishman named Phane Beecher got full permission from the Earl of Cork to take the land from them. He got help from England, and O'Mahony fought bravely against him for a while, but in 1602 the English defeated them and the Castle fell into the hands of the Bernards. The Castle was burned in 1921 when the Black and Tans were in the country.
