Mr Goodman and his wife came to town in 1737 and he became vicar of Ballymodan, he lived where Shannon Lodge is now built. Mrs Goodman became a victim of this disease and she was buried in Roscarbery.
The sexton knowing that she had a valuable ring on her finger opened the tomb and he tried to get the ring off but her finger was too swollen so he cut a small piece of flesh and it bled, then to his amazement the woman sat up and got out the tomb and went home.
