very interesting case of prolonged catalepsy or trance occurred in Bandon. Mr Goodman and his wife came to town in 1737 and he became vicar of Ballymodan, he lived where Shannon Lodge is now built. Mrs Goodman became a victim of this disease and she was buried in Roscarbery.
The sexton knowing that she had a valuable ring on her finger opened the tomb and he tried to get the ring off but her finger was too swollen so he cut a small piece of flesh and it bled, then to his amazement the woman sat up and got out the tomb and went home.
