    burned to the ground.
A cottage owned by a Miss Brien of Amonister about a mile from Timoleague was burned by lighting furze bushes also, but a new cottage has been built for her on the site of the old one.
Miss Wren's shop in Clonakilty was burned when an oil lamp overturned and went on fire. As there were matches and other inflammable articles among the shop goods the flames quickly spread, until the whole house was on fire. However, "it's a bad wind that don't blow someone good" and the street children profited by this burning as they got toys which had been partly burned.
Mr JJ Donovan's house in Abbey Street was accidentally burned a good while ago, no one seems to know what happened.
