    The old women used to knit socks also. Mrs Lehane who lived in Umera and who died recently, had a spinning wheel when she came to Timoleague at first.
    She used to spin the wool into thread with which she used knit the socks.
    Some people used to buy the thread from her and knit the socks themselves, and she used to knit the socks for other people.
    When a person dies, all her or his immediate relatives wear black clothes until the person is twelve months dead.
