- (continued from previous page)The other fort in my district is in the townland of Knocknagullane. These forts are withing view of one another. The one in my townland is of a round shape. It is surrounded by a large mound and this mound is covered with trees.
The fort in Knocknagullane is of an oblong shape and it is surrounded by a fence. There is no entrance in this fort. There is an entrance in the other fort, in my district. Once a man named Denis Long entered this fort and examined the interior. It consisted of a number of under-ground passages, leading to old ruins and also large heaps of stones.
It is also supposed that, that man heard sounds as he was coming out of the fort. Forts are not usually interfered with as it is believed that a person will meet with bad luck, if he do so.
