    if not cut down before the seed ripens and drops off, it would soon spread over the whole field.
    The roots must be well dug out to get rid of it.
    The thistle is supposed to grow only in good land. If the thistles were cut down before they shed their seed they would die out after a few years.
    It is supposed that the juice of the blossom of the furze bush is used as a remedy for the yellow jaundice.
    There is another herb which grows on fences known as the dandelion which is a good remedy for red murrain on cattle. These herbs are pulled from the ground and the roots are cut off and boiled
