The thistle is supposed to grow only in good land. If the thistles were cut down before they shed their seed they would die out after a few years.
It is supposed that the juice of the blossom of the furze bush is used as a remedy for the yellow jaundice.
There is another herb which grows on fences known as the dandelion which is a good remedy for red murrain on cattle. These herbs are pulled from the ground and the roots are cut off and boiled(continues on next page)- Informant
