- There are five forges in the town of Millstreet.
There are six smiths there. There are a number of forges in Rathmore district. One of them is situated beside a river. The part of this river near the forge is known as Uisge na Ceárdcáin.
This forge is owned b Mr OLeary. There are three smiths working in this forge. There is also another forge situated a short distance from Shinnagh cross near Rathmore. The roof of the forge is made of felt. It contains two fireplaces. The implements used by the smith are a hammer, sledge, chisel, rasp, a knife, a pincers and an anvil.
