- There is an old road running about a mile and a half east of Rathmore and it is known as "the old road." It was the old road to Rathmore. In order to go to Rathmore in this way it was necessary to cross a river and the people could not often cross it used to be flooded. There was a boreen leading over this river. This road was made about fifty years. There is also a very old road in my district. It is situated in the west of the townland of Knocknalomon. The working people got very small pay at that time.
Those who made the roads were only paid about a half a crown(continues on next page)- Informant
