- In the 24th of June a fair used to be held in Carrigdrohid every year. There used to be no Cattle sold at that fair. In the morning lambs and sheep, chiefly lambs were sold there. In the field of Mr Murphy's the fair was held. When the fair was over early the boys and girls used to be singing and dancing and faction fighting until late at night. It was held there once after the Muskerry train ran in 1888. The Coachford fair was held the following year. There also used to be a fair held at Nadrid. It was a man named Connors who then owned the field where the fair used to be held. A man was killed by a stroke of a blackthorn stick. No other fair was held in Nadrid afterwards. It was also transferred to Coachford. It is lorries that carry the cattle away from the(continues on next page)
