- The nearest lios to the village of Meelin is situate in John Browne's land in Rowels. The lios is in a field adjoining the road and behind what remains of a dwelling house at one time. The fort as it is locally called is big and round in shape being sparsely planted with white-thorn trees. Light was seen in this fort some years ago but not in recent times. In the middle of this lios is a round stone having a hollow in its middle which is usually full of water. There is a cure for warts in this water and several people have availed of it for curing those growths.

- Timothy Curtin of Meelin supplied the following story about this lios:-
Early one morning some years ago a man was driving cattle to Dromcollogher (Co Limerick) fair and on passing by the lios was filled with surprise on seeing a white horse come out of it. A man of small stature later appeared having a bridle and saddle and after a long chase he succeeded in catching the horse. He galloped him three times around the field and then horse and rider disappeared in the lios.- Collector
