    Wherever seed was put in ground, the hunger-maddened victims rooted it out and ate it raw. No crops were raised and no rent paid. There was food in abundance in the country :- such as corn but the Government said it should not be touched.
    After all the starvation in the country a terrible disease came the following years and killed nearly as many people that died during the famine.
