    We had an exceptionally dry year some twenty years ago, the drought lasting so long that the curlews and the snipes died of starvation. We had, too, an Indian summer during the Black and Tan era. In the September of the dry period of some twenty years ago, crickets took up their abode on the water edges of the river bridges.
    By the way a great snow storm fell on the ninth of May-year not known-but on or about 55 years since, which caused great loss to cattle and sheep many of which were stifled. A great snow storm took place on Dromagh fair day the twentieth of May in the days of our Great Grand Fathers.
