    Con Coffey could also compose poetry. "Down by the river shoe" was composed by him.
    The population of Gneeves has been gradually decreasing during the last 50 years. Long ago a good football team could be picked from the people living by the roadside from Boherbee to the Priests' Crossroads.
    There are two hills in the townland viz:- The Doctor's hill and Pat Sullivan's hill. The former is so called because the doctor's house is at the top of it and the latter because Pat Sullivan's house is at the bottom of it.
