- A person who licks an "arch. luachra" has a cure for a burn in his or her tongue.
I was told the following story by an eye witness (since dead).
There was a man in the locality who licked an "arch luacra (arc luachra) One day he had a bet with some neighbours that he would redden an iron in the fire of the forge and rub it to his tongue. This he actually did - stuck out his tongue and licked the red hot iron so that the sizzling of the tongue could be heard and yet the man's tongue was not burnt. - A cure for warts is to count the amount of warts in the hands and get as many small stones as there are warts and place the stones in a paper bag at the cross of four roads. It is said that who ever will pick up the stondes will take the warts. A cure for chilblains before they are broken is to rub goose grease to them.
