- (continued from previous page)The clergy held a Spring "Stations" in Seán's house on one occasion. Seán was busy ploughing at the time and could not spare the time to attend. While the priests were in the house Seán strolled in for his breakfast and when the priest suggested that Seán should remove his hat Seán replied Ní hata atá orm ach sop tuighe.
(This is universally told but nobody can see the joke)Seán a' Pheadair is said to have lived on the farm now owned by Mrs John Carroll, Nohoval Lower, Knocknagree, Co. Cork.
------------------------------------------------------
Seán a' Pheadair was married to a grand-aunt of John O'Connell's of Scrahan - John, himself, informed me and gave me the following piece that Seán composed about his Sister Cáit (Compare with piece in Page 111)
Ó sí Cáit is fearracha, b'fuirist í cháineadh
Tá sí mí-ráidhte droc-mhúinte
Do thabhfadh sí náir do bhuime de mhnáibh
