    Mrs Kitty O'Connell (née Kelleher) of Farrankeal aged 80 gave me an account of their eviction and some interesting recollections of her youth.

    That's fit to accommodate a Viscount or belle,
    A princess, a King, or a pontiff.
    There was a clock on Quinlan's house that could be heard striking in Lacka (2 1/2 to 3 English Miles) but it was hard to keep it in repair because the carts going through the village used to shake the houses - the ground underneath was all bog.
    Asked when she got the first taste of tea Kitty told me she was about 12 years old (1870). Her Mother died about that time and as their servant had to go home with sore fingers Kitty and her sister had to help at the milking of the cows and her father ordered tea for them. There was tea in the house a long time before that but the children or servants or workmen never got it. She had a recollection of her two grandmother's - both were living with them - and the tea was for those. Her mother - God rest her - liked it too but her father never cared about it
