    In a further talk with Denis Dennehy (64) of Scrahan he spoke of the Church, the times, the people and their "clanishness".

    were supposed to be haunted and an O'Connor man was Killed by a Spirit there.
    The farmers often provided their workmen with houses and gave them ground for garden etc. The farmer deducted a certain amount from the wages for such allowances. That deduction was called Criadh or Percus according to Michael Dennehy. He knew a Seáinín Haley(healy) of Knocknaboul who would have a scythe of hay cut and would then leave for Cork to do his shopping. He's spend that night in Cork and return home the next day and cut another scythe of hay after returning. Thus he lost none of his wages and did his own private business as well. (A 'scythe' of hay was an Irish half-acre. That same Seáinín was so bound by the farmer that he hadn't even Sunday free between the New Year and Christmas. Still Seainín always 'sat' his own garden and had potatoes as early and as good as anybody else. He worked on fine moonlight nights and was out before day to do his work. He usually 'sat' an
