Mrs B Sheehan (87) Knocknagree is responsible for these additional ideas etc. and furthermore, she knew all the others when I read them over for her:-
    80. When a cow or pig was killed some of the steak was given to friends but before it was sent out of the house it got a 'turn' on the fire i.e. it was held over the fire for a little time.
    81. If the feet-water got spilled on the fireplace the old people would be 'raging' and would immediately dry it up.
    82. She knew one woman in her home townland Mín na gCiseach who made a spancel (of hay) on the day the cow 'went to dairy' and that spancil was hung up on the wall and kept to tie the future calf.
