- (continued from previous page)JAMES KEEFE, Kiluacrane, Banteer, was a great mower. He could cut about an acre and a half in 12 hrs. This man died about three years ago, aged 65. He was buried in Cullen graveyard. Co. Cork
- TIMOTHY BUCKLEY and his BROTHER DAN of Dromtariffe, Co. Cork raced a horse harnessed to a trap, from Dromtariffe to Boherbue a distance of four miles. The Buckleys won easily.
When the Kanturk-Newmarket Railway Line was being laid JAMES SHEEHAN, Lyre, Banteer walked from his home to Newmarket, a distance of 13 miles in 1 1/2 hrs. and worked at this line. At the end of the day's work he walked home again and then had only a few hours left for sleep as the work at this line commenced at 8 o'c. each morning.
TIMOTHY MC.CARTHY Kiliuacrane, Banteer was a noted dancer. His favourite dance was the reel.
MICHAEL CONNELL, Stoneyfield, Kilcorney, was a great footballer. He often brought victory to his own people & was known far & near.- Collector
