  1. In my young days I often heard old people quoting from "The Prophecies of St. Columcille".
    The following are some of those I remember hearing from my father who died in 1904, aged 64:-

    "The next great war will be fought in the air."
    (About 50 years ago I heard that quoted for the first time)

    "There will be a great battle between the Orangemen and the Catholics. The Orangemen will have arms but the Catholics will have none because the English will not allow them. But the Catholics will succeed in the end."

    "The rates will be higher than the rents."
    "The bag will be more valuable than its contents."

    "The seasons will change so much that summer can be distinguished from winter only by the leaves on the trees."

    "The people will become smaller and more untruthful."

    "Headless coaches will be passing through the country"
    "England will be engaged in a great war and when it is over men will be so
