  1. There are many forts in this locality. There is one famous one called Lios Na Gearróid. It is in the townland of Coolbane, in th eparish of Liscarroll, in the barony of Orrery and Kilmore, and in the county of Cork. Other forts can be seen from this one, namely, Broderick's, Brislane's and others. Its shape is round and there is a mound all round it. It was built by the chieftains of long ago to guard themselves and their lands. The owner who is Cornelius Culhane never interferes with it when ploughing or cutting hay.
