- OLD HOUSESThe people long ago had to make their own houses. They made some of them of mud and rushes. The walls were made of mud and the roof was made of rushes. There are hardly any of these to be seen now. There is one built in Egmont. It is built on Callaghan’s land. It is called the “New Barn”. The mortar that is keeping the walls together was mixed with the blood of their enemies cattle.
