  1. This industry was carried on in Hume's Lane by a person named Mc Carthy. He collected the necessary twigs in the "Twig Yard". Owing to the great amount and suitability of the twigs on the Killarney or Mallow road it got the name of the 'Twig Yard'. In fact twigs like these are still to be had near this road.
