  2. Cahirmee fair
    is held in July it was once a very famous fair. Lots of foreigners used to come to it and it lasted for a week. The people used to buy horses in Mallow a few days before the fair as most of the buyers used to stay in Mallow. But now the fair is only held for a couple of days and so many people do not go to it now as before as there are fairs held on the first Tuesday of every month and there is also a big fair held every three months. People are not allowed to buy or sell horses now only in the fair ground and people have to pay money before they can go into the fair ground.
    There also used to be a midnight mass before the fair on New-Year's
