    present owner of the Castle, Miss A.M. Barry had occasion to "bog" flax. He resolved to carry out the "bogging" of the flax in this Well although warned by several not to do so.
    A short time afterwards Mr Barry completely lost the sight of one eye.
    This well is in the townland of Monanimy and quite convenient to Monanimy Castle.
    Mr O'Brien also says that Saint Nicholas is supposed to be the brother of Saint Cranat whose feast-day was celebrated locally on March 9th each year and in connection with which a "Pattern" was held each year at Saint Cranat's Well.
    Owing to abuses the "Pattern" was prohibited by Rev. Pierce Greene about 1866 who was also influenced by "Thornhill" of Killuragh. "It seems strange" says Mr. O'Brien that Rev. Father Greene became seriously ill a short time after and was confined to bed for three months and that Thornhill became involved in
