    and ordered each of his tenants to keep a soldier and give him a meal of cabbage and meat.
    The soldiers were told to slop a piece of meat into his pockets and it was to be taken to the Landlord's house next day and whichever had the fattest meat would get a prize.
    By these the crankie old Lanlord meant to find out the robber. He knew the tenant who had the fattest would be the robber. The boy was one of the Landlord's tenants and he had to keep a soldier. He saw the soldier slip the piece of bacon into his pocket and say nothing.
    That night while the soldier slept he exchanged the bacon for the flesh of an old donkey. After many escapes the boy was found out, and sentenced to death. But the Judge said in the court before telling him of his sentence. "If the boy can steal the sheet from the Landlords bed he will be saved The boy was satisfied to save his life by stealing the sheet.
