There is a flower called the red shank and it is said that it got its colour when Our Saviour was dying on the cross. The flower was near the cross and a drop of blood fell on it and that it how it got its name and colour.
The blossom of the furze bush was used for dying clothes long ago.
Donkeys were very fond of thistles. Buacalláns will never grow where sheep graze.
