  1. The Brickleac remained in hiding in Bottlehill. One day he sent his servant boy to Mallow on a message. While there he betrayed his master - sold him for the price that was on his head. The end was then at hand. Too sick to defend himself, he was surrounded and captured by the soldiers. They at once cut off his legs to prevent any possibility of escape. He was then carted to Mallow where died within a few days.
