  1. Marriage Customs in Leamlara.
    The following has been collected by the undersigned from the older people of the locality:-
    Marriages most frequently take place during Shrove and generally on Shrove Tuesday.
    May is considered an unlucky month so also Monday and Friday. People do not marry on Wednesday as it's the day for upper class. Tuesday and Thursday are the lucky days.
    Matches are made and it has been known that because of the breaking of the match over the dowry the marriage had been delayed to the last moment on Shrove Tuesday night.
    Money is given with the Bride, when the Bridegroom has a farm.
    If Bride had the farm the Bridegroom went there "Cliamhain isteach."
    As a rule Mass is said that morning in the old home of the Bride and the Bridegroom comes to the Mass. After Mass they proceed to the church in cars for the Ceremony. The Bride and Bridegroom in separate cars.
