The treasure consists of gold and some silver. The value is supposed to be a million pounds. Treasure was discovered also in a field near Castlemartyr castle by a man who was ploughing. It is said that a person saw the treasure by eating food that was baked by a fire of hawthorn sticks. There is always a guardian minding the gold because if any person came along to dig it up he would be able to keep him back. It is said that lights were seen around the place where it was hidden.
