    the Ladysbridge sports was twenty two feet eight inches.
    At jumping he more than held his own, clearing twenty one feet. In the high jump he did over five feet eight, and considering he was a man that worked hard these were good performances.
    At the hurling he had few equals amongst the Gaels of the district. It can be truly said he came of a Cork hurling family, as all his brothers and sisters are each and all good hurlers.

  2. In the townland of Garranjames almost twenty years ago a man named Hugh Moloney did a very strong act that any other man could not do. One evening he sent his man for his stock and when the man went down he saw that one of the animals was sick. The man went back and told his master about the sick beast. Mr. Moloney told the man to harness his horse as quickly as he could and himself would go to see the sick beast. When the man was going down for the animal with the horse and car to his great surprise he met Hugh Moloney with the beast on his shoulders.
