  2. There was a farmer long ago, and he always had a wish for the fairies as will be seen by the following story. He was in poor circumstances so one year he made an effort to sow oats and barley in the greatest part of his little farm to pay off his debts.
    All went well until the harvest. One evening he went his servant maid to milk the few cows. They were grazing in a fort. The man and his servant were alarmed to hear the wail of an infant quite close to him.
