    pool or stream. This causes the animal great pain. The old people used a "cure" by cutting the knot over the animal. A cord was formed into an intricate knot which was undone by pulling both ends of the cord. This knot was "cut" or unloosed three times over the loins of the animal in the name of the Holy Trinity, and seems to be always successful in relieving the animal. The "cure" is still worked by many in this locality.
