  1. Corgrigg Castle is about one quarter of a mile from Foynes. The remains of it can still be seen to-day. It is supposed that there is an under ground passage from Shanid Castle which is about one mile above Shanagolden to Corgigg Castle.
    Carew who was President of Munster stayed a night at Corgrigg Castle on his way back after destroying Glin.
