mile East from the 'village of Athea. It is in Mr. Colbert's farm. Long ago in the time that Cromwell came to Ireland his soldiers burned the church in Athea and the priests offered Mass in a hollow in the field. The people came to Mass there and erected a wooden cross there which is painted white and can be seen to the present day.
