Mr. Massey who was another one of Cromwell's descendants, was a very wicked landlord. There is a story told about him. There was a poor old woman, who had a bold boy of a son, whom she could not control. She complained him to Massey, and he told her to send him her son. She did as she was told, and he ordered his soldiers to tie him to a tree, and to whip him, and when he was about to die, he had him taken and hanged off a tree.
    Told by Patrick Dwyer,
    C/o Mr. James Hamilton,
    Ballyrobin,
    Ardagh,
    Co. Limerick.
