- The bread used by the people of Feenagh long ago was got from barley which the people grew in large quantities at that time. They threshed it with flails and ground it with querns (two stones twisted in opposite directions by a handle. The dough was place on the griddle where it was baked and it was cut into four quarters. Potato-cake was sometimes made on a special occasion. Raw potatoes ground finely were mixed with barley flour and other ingredients and were then baked on the griddle.
