  1. There were two giants living in Co. Limk long ago. One lived on the Clare side of the Shannon and the other on Limerick. The Clare giant made up his mind to kill the Limerick giant. When the Limerick heard this he went into the cradle. The Clare giant came and asked for him. The servants told him that he was out but his son was in the cradle. When the Clare giant saw the size of his son he said to himself that his father must be a terrible size and he fled home as quick as he could.
