On the green grassy slopes by the sweet River Deel.
    IV
Oh oft did I roam when the sun sank to rest,
Through its hills and its valleys, with the friends I loved best,
But oh to my grief I will never more feel
The clasp of dear hands by the sweet River Deel.
The above song was composed by Miss Hannigan who resided near the River Deel and was afterwards a nun in Leeds. This song is sung to the same air as that of the Last Rose of Summer.
