about fourteen years, he worked in the war shoeing horses. Mostly all smiths who worked at the time of the war were tatooed. The old people say smiths have many cures, for example to cure warts, dip them into the water the smith uses to band wheels. They also can cure horses from sparings in their legs by burning them with a red iron and then rubbing in salt immediately after.
The forge in Kilmeedy is situated at the foot of Kilmeedy Hill, it is a small house with a timber roof. the implements kept in the forge are, an anvil, a bellows, and many other instruments. Outside the door he bands wheels, and sometimes shoes horses. It is a very well kept forge.
