    The Mermaid
Mermaids are never seen in this district. It is said that they were to be seen near the sea long ago. Mermaids are small women and they have speech. One has brought ashore some place to the west of Limerick. It is said that she got married and was very happy with her husband and children but later she ran away from them. Once an old woman was dying and she said.
"Get six little mermaids to carry my coffin,
Get six little mermaids to take my away
Get six little mermaids to carry my coffin
For I died for a mermaid to take me away."
