- Once an Irishman went to America and he was working with other men building a house. The steward used to be very vexed if any of the men were late. One day the Irishman was late and he was in such a hurry he put on his trousers back to front and he didn’t no it. When the Irish was on the top of a ladder the ladder broke and he fell down. The steward ran over and asked him if he were hurt. The man stood up and saw the way his trouser was turned. “I am not hurt” said he, “but I got a bad twist.”
