It is said that bells ring at the whiteforge in Shanpallas where the church was 84 years ago. The people say that only those who attended Mass in the church could hear these bells.

It is said that a parish priest went into a house in this locality about forty years ago. An old woman was sitting by the fire the priest saluted her in Irish but she did not return it. The priest then asked her is she knew any irish she then answered no father but I am ignorant enough to know it.
