    a challenging exhibition of natures method of bringing up its children.
    I had just delivered a load of gravel to the site of the new cottage, when I noticed a hawk swooping and looping in the air, under a tall tree quite near me. I sat quietly in the cabin of the lorry and waited some moments.
    A little movement on a bough of the tree I have spoken of caught my eye. By close watching, I was able to notice that there were some four birds ranged side by side on the bough. Suddenly a leaf dropped from the bough and swirled about in the air. Immediately one of the birds launches itself outward and downward and pounced in mid-air upon the quietly floating leaf. With a graceful and rapid curve, it mounted again to its position on the bough and after
