Old Song
“To myself and to my country I was never any use”
Old Song.To myself and to my country I was never any use.
Work and I were strangers from a very early date.
From all my friends and neighbours.
I got nothing but abuse.
My father paid my passage and sent me on my way.
I said goodbye to all the boys with
whom I used to roam.
I took a last sad look upon my
dear old native home.
To all the girls whom I knew I bid
a sad goodbye.
And when I stood in Queenstown the tear stood in my eye.
Chorus
And when I stood in Queenstown with the big tear in my eye.
Not a mother soul was there to say Sean Og goodbye.(continues on next page)- Collector
