    Outside Lord Doneraile's gate (near Doneraile, Co.Cork) the following lines were written one time.

    Outside Lord Doneraile’s gate (near Doneraile, Co. Cork) the following lines were written at one time.
    “Turk, Jew, or Quaker may enter here, but not a Papist”.
    A local wit wrote underneath,
    “Who, wrote these words, wrote them well, for the same is written on the gates of Hell”.

    1. “All the men and money, that was, since Adam’s race, couldn’t put a straight nose on Lord Doneraile’s face”.
    According to story, Lord Doneraile had a crooked nose, and this was what a local wit said in reply to a man who said “What can’t men and money do.
