Very little if any of the two great requirements - feed and clothes were purchased. The food consisted chiefly of potatoes and oatmeal and milk. These were produced by the consumer. The clothes were either frieze, flannel or linen and these were partially or wholly produced in the homes. Very little, if any, of the money received for cattle or dairy produce was spent.
