  1. Locally Composed Songs
    "Kilmarten's Farewell to Glenbrohane"
    (Air: "Lochnaga") I.
Farewell lovely village beneath the tall
    mountain;
Where oft I have rambled in night's
    sable car.
Farewell to the rivulets, streamlets, and
    fountains,
That flow in bright splendour to calm
    Morning Star.
    II.
Much have I seen of my own native
    island:
Its towns and gay cities embellished
    by art.
Far dearer to me is that bleak barren
    highland.
O! Nature has charms to play round
    the heart.
    III.
Far dearer to me than the grand pomp
    of cities.
To see on thy holy summit the grey morning dawn:
And to listen at eve to the milk maids' love duties
That ring in bright cadence to sweet Morning Star.
