    Half a mile from the house the boys made a stand still
    After crossing the stream, but were pelted by Will
    With stones which proved harmless every one
    This Will thought that his aim was as sure as the sun

    Now to finish my tale, this pair all in white
    Retraced their steps homeward that cold frosty night
    And the boys pledged themselves after laughing their fill
    That they'd play no tricks more on poor [?] Will
